The saying goes in our office that all is fair in love and gaming. The Betfair Group have seemingly taken this very ideology on to its furthermost point in the creation of their casino and arcade offerings.

Developed following the group’s successful global sports betting exchange business, Betfair Casino and Betfair Arcade apply the same community principals to provide a gaming experience that leaves a very satisfying taste in your mouth. Kind of like a crème brûlée of gaming, then.

The games available at Betfair Casino are exclusively from Playtech. While they are one of the world’s biggest gaming developers, this does limit players to Playtech’s catalogue. Having said that, we gave the site a chance and really got into some of the titles on offer, in particular the Marvel Slots franchises such as Iron Man 2, The Fantastic Four and Blade.

Of course, if you aren’t really comic-book geeks then there are scores of other titles on offer, all neatly arranged by type. If you are looking to distinguish between new slots, those with bonus rounds or free spins, or those with 5-10, 10-20 or 25+ lines, you can easily see the relevant thumbnails with the casinos neat, tabbed user-interface.

The Betfair Arcade is where you will find our beloved Rainbow Riches, along with other IGT and non-Playtech classics. We’re not sure why they have split the sets of software providers in this way, so if you weren’t in the know you could leave the site thinking that your favourite titles weren’t there. Fortunately, you are now in the know so that dreadful scenario doesn’t have to happen.

If you are looking for something other than slots, Betfair Casino also offers a Live Casino, in which players can play live thanks to Playtech’s excellent streaming software, along with all the regular table and card games. One word to the wise: not all games are available through Betfair’s instant casino, so access to the site’s full catalogue it is wise to plump for the download version.

As we mentioned earlier, the Betfair Group offers a sports betting service in which players lay or back odds against each other, thus removing the necessity for the company to act as a bookmaker. Instead, Betfair takes a percentage of each player’s odds as a commission (a kind of rake).

The Zero Lounge is one feature that is worth investigating, reducing the house edge of each game involved, which include Zero Baccarat, Zero Blackjack, Zero Jacks or Better and Zero Roulette. However, the Zero Lounge is only available using the provider’s download casino, so instant players won’t be able to take full advantage, and bonus cash is excluded from Zero lounge games.

Betfair Casino also offers a selection of in-game tutorials – though not on every game – which is a great way for novices to experience different gaming spheres.

Although the biggest betting exchanges in the world, Betfair Casino and Arcade doesn’t operate any live chat or indeed offer a customer-support phone number. This is slightly off-putting, but their FAQ index is extensive and they do pledge to reply to their email contact form within four hours (our tests found responses much quicker, though).

As for payments, players can deposit in as wide a variety of transfer methods as you can shake a stick at – including all the usual suspects – though customers can withdraw with PayPal but can’t use it to deposit. Withdrawals take the usual 2-5 days.

Does that sound fair? (You) Betfair.
